Artist Statement

My work explores the topics of obscurity by visually researching the impact objects have on self-image and memory. I am fascinated by how our possessions shape our perceptions of life — through trinkets, momentos, worn-out clothing, family heirlooms, hankerchiefs — and how they are more than objects. These objects hold memories, ideas, and become an extension of oneself, becoming mirrors of identity. Objects and memories will transform over time, casting a patina of misremembering while the memory gradually fades and the object wears.
